Annual Meetings

The Co-op’s Annual Meetings are held during the first quarter each year to which all Members are invited to participate.

These Meetings provide the opportunity for Members to meet the Board of Directors, Management and Staff; to review and approve the Minute of the previous Annual Meeting; to review the operation of the Co-operative over the past year; to review and approve the previous Financial Year’s Auditor’s Report; to elect any Directors to the Board; and for the Members to have their own meeting between themselves.

The date of the next Annual Meeting will be announced at least 10 days in advance

Special Members' Meetings

These are unusual and are called at short notice (minimum of ten days’ notice) should the Co-operative need a discussion and Member Vote.

An example was the Special Members’ Meeting called on 2009 Nov 18 to review the need to categorize Countryside Energy as a “Renewable Energy Co-operative”, subsequent to the provincial Green Energy & Green Economy Act amending the Ontario Co-operatives’ Corporations Act, required to be approved by Members’ attending the Special Meeting.

The date of a Special Members’ Meeting will be announced at least 10 days in advance, and also listed on the co-operative's homepage.

Voting at Members' Meetings

Voting at Annual or Special members’ meetings is via the Co-operative one-member-one-vote principle.

Individual Memberships

All individual members can participate and vote.

Joint Memberships

Both partners are welcome to participate in the Meeting, but only one can vote.

Business Memberships

Proof of the business represented is required (eg business card); if more than one representative of the business participates, only one can vote.
