For the immediate future, our focus will be to develop PV renewable energy generation. PV under the OPA’s “Micro FIT” program allows ease of connection to the distribution network for facilities of 10kW output or less. We therefore propose to act as agents to sell and install PV units for that range of equipment and higher output, the higher range requiring adherence to more regulation. Examples of larger facilities are solar farms producing 250kW or more. |
The FIT and Micro FIT programs offer a guaranteed 20-year contract at the above prices.
A key goal of the Co-operative is to develop its own projects, 50kW and larger, and is presently identifying and assessing suitable loactions. To provide equity/capital for these projects, Co-operative Members can buy Preference Shares to enable the Co-op to raise the equity to buy & install the equipment, and to give those Members a dividend based on the number of Shares that they hold after projects are connected to the grid and generate revenue.
